ProDURA®Bacillus coagulans is a unique strain of spore-forming bacteria. In their spore form, the bacteria are dormant encased in an outer shell, allowing them to withstand the harshest environments. When they encounter the perfect conditions of temperature, pH, and moisture in the large intestine, they revert to their active form.

The result is a remarkably resilient probiotic that is able to withstand extreme conditions (including high temperatures, processing, stomach acid, and bile) and is that room temperature-stable for up to three years, yet is also bioavailable. Importantly, not all strains of B. coagulans are the same. A 2013 laboratory study found that ProDURA® had greater heat resistance than two well-established competitors in the marketplace.

Human, animal, and in vitro research indicates B. coagulans bacteria:

    Different strains of Bacillus bacteria are used to produce fermented foods such as natto in Asian countries. Commonly found in soil, these bacteria are often accidentally ingested by humans and animals without ill effect. Bacillus coagulans has been tested for safety in rats with no detrimental effects observed.[6]  ProDURA® has recently been granted GRAS status.
