Nutraceutical and Functional Ingredients

About Maypro:

Since 1977, Maypro has helped shape the nutraceutical industry by introducing innovative ingredients—including Coenzyme Q10, glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, and alpha-lipoic acid—from Japan to the U.S. market.

Today, Maypro is a global supplier of clinically researched nutraceuticals, branded ingredients, and functional raw materials. With strategically located companies in the United States, Japan, China, and Italy—and representatives serving markets worldwide—we connect trusted manufacturers with leading supplement and health-product companies.

The Opportunity:

Maypro is seeking a commercially driven Raw Material Commodity Trader to identify market opportunities, develop supplier and customer relationships, and manage the sourcing and sale of nutritional raw materials.

This position combines market intelligence, business development, negotiation, and supply-chain strategy. The successful candidate will understand how global market conditions affect pricing and availability, respond quickly to changing customer needs, and build profitable, long-term business across Maypro’s international network.

We are looking for a curious, resourceful professional who thrives in a fast-moving environment, takes ownership of results, and enjoys building relationships across cultures and markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze global markets for nutritional raw materials, including supply, demand, pricing, production capacity, regulatory developments, and competitive activity.
  • Identify new sourcing, trading, and sales opportunities across Maypro’s supplier and customer network.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, customers, and other strategic partners.
  • Negotiate pricing, supply agreements, payment terms, and other commercial conditions that support profitable, sustainable growth.
  • Manage commodity positions and inventory levels, balancing customer demand, market conditions, lead times, and working-capital considerations.
  • Monitor price volatility and supply-chain risks, developing strategies to protect margins and maintain reliable product availability.
  • Prepare market forecasts using historical data, industry intelligence, customer insights, and emerging global trends.
  • Partner with logistics, quality, regulatory, finance, legal, and sales teams to execute transactions efficiently and responsibly.
  • Coordinate international transportation and delivery requirements to help reduce lead times, control costs, and maintain continuity of supply.
  • Ensure products and trading activities comply with applicable regulations, quality requirements, contractual obligations, and ethical business standards.
  • Track sales activity, inventory, margins, forecasts, and other key performance indicators, providing regular updates to management.
  • Represent Maypro at customer meetings, supplier visits, trade shows, and industry events in the United States and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international business, supply-chain management, finance, nutrition, food science, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in commodity trading, ingredient sales, procurement, sourcing, or business development—preferably within the dietary supplement, food, pharmaceutical, or related industry.
  • Familiarity with nutritional ingredients, including commodity raw materials and proprietary branded ingredients.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to evaluate pricing, margins, inventory exposure, and market risk.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship development, negotiation, and closing business.
  • Ability to interpret market data and translate insights into sourcing and sales strategies.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-moving global market.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with international suppliers, manufacturers, or customers.
  • Knowledge of global ingredient supply chains and relevant quality or regulatory requirements.
  • Additional education or certification in sales, nutrition, supply-chain management, finance, or commodity trading.
  • Professional proficiency in Mandarin, Hindi, or another language relevant to global trade.

Work Location and Schedule Requirements:

  • This position is based at Maypro USA’s headquarters in Westchester County, New York.
  • The role follows a hybrid schedule, with a minimum of two days per week in the office and up to three days working remotely.
  • This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with standard working hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
  • Occasional early-morning, evening, or other irregular hours may be required to accommodate international suppliers, customers, travel, trade shows, and changing market conditions.
  • Candidates must be able to commute reliably to Maypro’s Westchester County headquarters and travel domestically and internationally as needed.
