We have a gut feeling

With the world digestive health market estimated at $44.4 billion in 2022 and microbiome subcategories forecasted to grow at a rate of 6 to 10% by 2027 to 2029, formulators are increasingly looking for powerful, clinically supported, probiotic and postbiotic ingredients.

Four great examples of these are LAC-Shield, Morinaga BB536, Morinaga M-16V and Morinaga M-63.

The Immunity Defender

LAC-Shield™ (Lactobacillus paracasei MCC1849) is a heat-killed and highly stable postbiotic strain of beneficial lactic acid bacteria that has significantly more immune activity than other strains of lactic acid bacteria.*

Mechanism of Action

LAC-Shield exerts beneficial effects on the immunocytes in the small intestine Peyer’s patch to produce immunologically active proteins, in this way stimulating antibody production promoter cells to produce antibodies.*

It has been shown to exhibit significant benefits in inducing the production of interleukin-12 (IL-12), a powerful activator of innate and adaptive immunity.*

Intake of LAC-Shield helps maintain and support a healthy immune system generally, reducing discomfort that may be occasionally associated with common cold.*

LAC-Shield has no stability issues related to harsh manufacturing conditions, ambient temperature or heat, and gastrointestinal transit.

LAC-Shield is Self-Affirmed GRAS, gluten-free, dairy-free, Kosher, Halal and non-GMO.

Mechanism of Action

Numerous studies, including double-blind, placebo-controlled human clinical trials, have shown that Morinaga BB536 aids digestive health and comfort by significantly:*

  • Supporting a healthy balance of bacteria in the gastro-intestinal tract*
  • Increasing short chain fatty acids*

Morinaga BB536 owes its efficacy to the fact that it increases levels of bifidobacteria in the human gut — and that it is stable enough to reach the intestines alive.

Levels of this bifidobacterium decline with age, making supplementation a wise consumer choice. Clinical studies show that Morinaga BB536 encourages a healthy immune system and:

  • Helps with digestive regularity*
  • Supports natural detoxification*
  • Promotes balance of healthy bacteria*
  • Discourages harmful strains of bacteria*
  • Supports healthy cholesterol levels already in a proper range*

Self-affirmed GRAS Morinaga BB536 is dairy-free, gluten-free, Halal, and non-GMO

Morinaga M-16V is believed to work through a number of ways to protect the health of children and infants, including:

  • Supporting the health of the gastro-intestinal mucosal layer*
  • Modulating the immune response through acting on T-helper cells, immunoglobulin E and galectin-9*

Published scientific studies have shown that in children and/or babies, including low-birth-weight infants, Morinaga M-16V:

  • Restores bifidobacterium to normal levels*
  • Supports a healthy immune system*
  • Promotes respiratory health*
  • Supports skin health*

Morinaga M-16V is Self-Affirmed GRAS for food applications and infant formulas.

M-16V is dairy-free, Halal, and non-GMO.

Morinaga M-63®

An Infant Nutrition Powerhouse

Morinaga M-63 is a clinically backed, room-temperature stable strain of Bifidobacterium infantis that helps establish healthy microflora in low-birth-weight infants.*

Mechanism of Action

Bifidobacterium infantis is so-named because it is a commonly found species of bifidobacteria in the infant gut.* Research on this species has shown it has abundant gene clusters for utilizing human milk oligosaccharides, which may contribute to its effective colonization in low-birth-weight infants.*

A study published in the journal Anaerobe found that low-birth-weight infants given a mix of three bifidobacteria species, including Morinaga M-63, achieved healthy colonization of microflora more quickly than those infants given no probiotics or only one species.* In fact, after just one week, the rate of detection of bifidobacterium in the three-species group was 100%, compared to 57% in the one-species group and 14% in the control group.*

A recent study showed that consumption of B. infantis M-63 can effectively improve mental well-being through the change in the ratio of gut microbiota, in this way acting as a psychobiotic.*

M-63 is dairy-free, Halal, Kosher, DSHEA and non-GMO.
