SupplySide Supplement Journal editors reported from the 2026 International Society of Sports Nutrition annual conference in Fort Lauderdale, where researchers and industry scientists reviewed nine ingredients shaping sports and active nutrition.
Tim Ziegenfuss, Ph.D., of the Center for Applied Health Sciences discussed the lactotripeptides VPP and IPP, supplied as VasoDrive-AP by Maypro, describing ACE inhibition as an upstream route to greater nitric oxide availability and better blood flow during exercise.
Other sessions addressed beta-alanine loading and muscle carnosine, astaxanthin and MSM for recovery, urolithin A and mitophagy, essential amino acids and cognition, citicoline's effect on brain waves, creatine safety in young athletes, and coffee compounds beyond caffeine.
Presenters also examined a possible role for sports nutrition ingredients among people using GLP-1 medications, and closed by urging the field to translate athlete research into realistic guidance for everyday consumers.
