PurpleForce

PurpleForce® is a unique tea-derived ingredient rich in polyphenolic compounds such as GHG®, which helps inhibit lipid and fat absorption while also boosting fat metabolism. PurpleForce is designed to activate AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase), an enzyme involved in the homeostasis of the energy cell, promoting energy levels and glucose absorption in skeletal muscle.

By activating AMPK, it inhibits synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol, triglycerides, and active ß oxidation. During and after exercise, when energy levels are lower, AMPK activates and promotes energy metabolism aiding endurance, muscle fatigue recovery and fatigue reduction.

What the Research Shows

In a 2020 study(1) led by the late sports nutrition icon, Hector Lopez, MD (see In Memorium below), 30 healthy men completed a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind crossover study consisting of muscle-endurance exercise and consumption of either PurpleForce or a placebo.

Supplementation with PurpleForce decreased lactate dehydrogenase, a marker of muscle damage, while also improving lower-body muscle endurance performance—including more leg extension and bench-press repetitions—and reducing fatigue during exercise.

PurpleForce®

Clinical research shows that PurpleForce can:

  • Promote improvement in fat metabolism*
  • Relax vascular smooth muscle to improve post-workout recovery*
  • Help improve endurance and reduce overall muscle fatigue*
  • Contribute to increased muscle strength and muscle mass of the quadriceps muscles in legs*
  • Improve exercise motivation*

Other research has found that PurpleForce can reduce BMI, body weight, waist size, subcutaneous fat thickness in the abdomen and upper arms in males, in addition to body-fat mass and hip size in females.*

Delivery Formats

Gently hand-picked in Kenya, the purple tea leaves and shoots used in PurpleForce are grown on a pesticide-free plantation and have been tested for residual agricultural chemicals, acute toxicity, and mutagenicity. PurpleForce is odorless with an easily maskable slightly sour taste profile.

IN MEMORIAM: HECTOR LOPEZ, MD

(1976 – 2022)

Hector L. Lopez Jr., MD, CSCS, FISSN, Principal/Scientific Advisor at The Center for Applied Health Sciences, passed away on November 25, 2022, at the age of 46.

According to Danielle Masterson of Nutraingredients-USA.com, Hector (or “Hec”) “started off as a medical doctor, later finding his true calling in the dietary supplement industry.

“Known for applying his diverse background in sports and human performance medicine, regenerative and longevity medicine, Lopez was a prolific researcher and formulator,” noted Masterston.

NutraIngredients-USA recently dedicated a new award category to Hector, “The Hector Lopez Excellence in Sports Nutrition Science Award,” an award that will recognize “the best game-changing sports nutrition research projects and studies that advance our understanding of how nutrition can enhance athletic performance and wellness.”
