Unfortunately, most Americans are not getting enough magnesium — not by a long shot. In fact, according to researchers from St. Luke’s Mid-America Heart Institute, “the vast majority of people in modern societies are at risk for magnesium deficiency”. These researchers attribute the widespread subclinical magnesium deficiency to medication use, decreases in food crop magnesium contents and processed foods.
